Days 1 & 2
Gordes: rendezvous in Avignon; walk to Roussillon, Lacoste, Ménèrbes and Gordes, the beautiful hilltop villages immortalized in Peter Mayle's A Year in Provence; stroll over to the 12thC Abbaye de Sénanque to listen to vespers sung by the monks; La Bastide de Gordes is an elegant Provençal mansion with dramatic views of the valley

Day 3
Arles: guided walk of historical Arles; Les Alyscamps, a cypress-lined avenue of sarcophagi; the famed Nord Pinus was a favourite haunt of writers

Days 4 & 5

Eygalières: walk over the limestone ridges of Les Alpilles; visit the village of Les Baux, renowned for its rich history of medieval chivalry and intrigue; explore the winding streets, galleries, restaurants and shops of chic St-Rémy; the elegant Mas de la Brune is one of France's finest hotels

Days 6 & 7
Castillon-du-Gard: stroll through the medieval town of Uzès; kayak on the Gardon, enjoying stunning views of the famed 2,000-year-old Roman aqueduct; Le Vieux Castillon is a luxury hotel with spectacular vistas of the valley
